7 Ways Port St. Lucie Residents Celebrate the Holidays

Lights are strung, trees are dressed and the time to celebrate is well underway. So, how do residents of Port St. Lucie enjoy the season of giving and cheer? Here are six fun and festive events to help you and your family capture the excitement and magic of the holidays.

#1 Winter Wonderland Light Show

From December 10 through New Year’s Eve, Port St. Lucie residents can drive or walk through the Community Center for a spectacular holiday light and sound experience. Light shows are free and take place daily from 7 to 9 p.m., located just north of Port St. Lucie Blvd. across from City Hall.

#2 Christmas Boat Parade Festival

Here on the east coast of Florida, the coast is an important aspect of almost everything we do, even and especially during the holiday season. For magnificently decorated vessels and lights glimmering off the water, make your way down to the Port of Fort Pierce December 12 for the 25th annual Port St. Lucie Christmas and Winter Holiday Boat Parade. All mariners are invited and encouraged to decorate their boats and join in the family fun. There is also a paddleboard/kayak division this year, in which prizes will be awarded for light effects, theme, creativity and crew spirit.

#3 Pancakes With Santa

Children ages 2 to 5 and their families are invited for flapjacks, face painting, crafts and pictures with Santa at the Port St. Lucie Community Center December 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Santa is making a big trip from the North Pole for pancakes, so don’t forget to pre-register for this eagerly awaited annual event.

#4 The Port St. Lucie Christmas House

Each year, JW Salveson and Jerome Sangalli deck out their private home, the Port St. Lucie Christmas House, for guests to enjoy over the holidays. Although this will be the first year in many that the Christmas House won’t be up and running, be sure to make it next year to get in the holiday spirit with over 35-thousand lights, music entertainment and a resident Santa Claus. For the past 13 years, Salveson and Sangalli have decorated the residence to support local charities through visitor donations.
